2016/2017 SCHOOL BASED TRAINEESHIP PROGRAM
Are you currently in year 10 and thinking about a traineeship in the WA public sector while completing Year 11 in 2016 and Year 12 in 2017?
Look no further – register your interest now! This is an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career in the Western Australian (WA) public sector.
The Public sector ‘School based traineeship program’ will give you the opportunity to undertake a paid part time employment based training for a period of 18 months. You will be working for a WA public sector agency one or two days a week and the remaining three days at school.
On successful completion of the traineeship at the end of year 12, you will be awarded a Certificate II in Government (Public Administration) which is a nationally recognised qualification and also complete your Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).
Eligibility
To be considered for a traineeship you are required to meet the following criteria:
- an Australian Citizen and Permanent Resident
- currently be enrolled in year 10 at a WA public school and commencing year 11 in 2017
- be deemed academically capable of undertaking a school based traineeship program by your school VET Coordinator and a school teacher (2 recommendations required)
- enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated in fulfilling both school and traineeship program requirements
- committed to work 1 or 2 days per week for 18 months in an office environment in a public sector agency

Job description:
As a school based trainee you will:
- perform reception and administration duties
- process mail
- work in a team and contribute ideas
- use a range of software and technology
- use a range of office equipment
- deliver excellent customer service
- work effectively and efficiently in a WA public sector agency
- use a range of workplace communication strategies
- work effectively with diversity.

b) your parent/guardian
